Grounding
Grounding is one of those words with many meanings. Parents ground their children for misbehavior. Grounding a wire allows the transmission of heat or electricity. A well-grounded theory is based on facts or trustworthy authority. A groundless action is without basis. We hold our ground, give ground and lose our ground. Gravity pushes us down to the ground and no further. In each case we experience the establishment of a base line.
For some personalities, conscious grounding can bring a base line to what is otherwise too chaotic or confused. A grounding meditation can be as simple as sitting in a quiet place focusing on the ground beneath you and allowing yourself to rest in this feeling.
Hematite is a heavy mineral composed of iron and oxygen and holding it during a grounding meditation can reinforce grounding yourself with the Earth.
