The Secret of the Heart is in the Present

The secret of the heart is in the present means you can deal with whatever hindrances you have right now in the present. You don't have to go back to any past. All the hindrances are challenges in the present. But they are in the heart and not in the head.

You may experience them as images of the past or of people you have known but its absolutely important not to think of them simply as past memories. They are felt now and require attention now. They exist in you now and so can be resolved now. The heart has only one time and that is the present. When you dive into the heart you dive into the now.

The rules of the heart are different than those of the head. If we want to truly enter our hearts we need to let go of the head concepts that stop us from using the heart's healing powers. To do this effectively one must set aside quiet moments of solitude with no distractions, where for brief times head concepts of time and space can be overruled.

Believing that the hindrances are about the past, events with one's mother, father, sister, brother, lover, teacher, etc., puts them out of reach. Put the concept of the past with respect to the heart out of your mind. Try dealing with these feelings as if they are events in the present that are lodged in different parts of your body.

In the heart we see there is no space where we need to go or to hide. In the heart we see there is no time but only eternal presence. In the heart we can touch those events of anguish, and allow them to float off, like rose petals drifting away on the water with the breeze. This is the scrying pool of your true heart.
